J.E. Behnke is noted for his complex and intricate stained glass patterns, with many tiny pieces of glass. This window has 233 individually cut, ground, copper-folled and soldered pieces of glass. This was a "work your fingers to the bone and you get boney fingers project," but the client was very pleased with the end result. The pattern was intended to be a monarch butterfly, but my client, who located the pattern, wanted a large blue butterfly to go with her room decor.
